My name is Tam, I had a daughter (Cool and a son (2) and I'm looking at starting up my own business from home. I'm not after earning millions Razz, I simply want to be able to have an income that will mean that I can stay home with my kids and making our lifestyle a little more comfortable flower

I am only in the initial stages of looking at starting a party supply business that also extends into kids party entertainment (eg clowns, face painting, balloon twisting etc). I'm really at a loss as to where I start and am hoping that I can gain some valuable info from you all: thumright

Hope to speak soon!

Thanks ladies Very Happy. Even though we're in Bunbury, we have a VERY LIMITED range of party supplies and next to no 'party entertainment'. I had to hire an entertainer from Busselton for my daughters birthday!

Of the product availabe there is nothing unusual, exciting or enticing. I whinge about the same issue everytime the kids birthday's come around! I was thinking of doing online sales, but would also like to sell locally - something I need to think hard about. Set up costs would be huge in a store, but would also consider selling from the home office(appointment basis/set times perhaps?). Arrrgh! So much to research!

Hi Tam...
Welcome to the forum.
You're off to a good start if you've got a business that is in demand without much competition.

As you mention... research! make sure you do LOTS of it - and ask lots of questions to people who have been in business (doesn't have to be the same type of business!)

Hi Tam - and welcome to the forums.

I'm in the kids party business too. I started my business after searching for original party games for my son's birthday party and it grew from there.

There is a lot of ground to cover - i.e. many gaps of demand that need supplying. If you ever need to chat about this specifically, feel free to PM me.

Otherwise, this forum is a mine of information about starting and maintaining your own business.

Regards

Mary-Lou
