"Make your blog profound and it will lead to increased sales or traffic!" all the web gurus say. "Write often and it will help your website's standing," however as I sit here pondering the content of my first ever blog post, those words seem ominous and insurmountable.
It seems ridiculous to me that in this modern world we have to branch off and multi-task the likes of blogging, twittering, status updates, deal with online security, SEO, SEM, keywords and back-ends. It's no wonder my head is spinning! No longer is it a simple procedure of sell to the masses. It is a PhD in technology with some stock thrown in to keep your head afloat!
And of course, the most laughable piece of puzzle in this everchanging enigma is that everyone is trying to get to the same winning post but the search engines won't hand out all the rules so everyone must scramble to try their best somewhat blindfolded.
The very act of getting online now signals the beginning of a long list of updates, tweaks and refreshes, all designed for some improvement that is temporary. Perhaps that is why it is beginning to feel a little akin to washing dishes - yes, a little bit helps but you know that the effort is just going to have to be repeated tomorrow (hopefully with less dirt!)
So as I stand here pondering the content, please disregard any negative sounding mutterings, it is merely the terrified squeaks of a naive first-timer dipping their toes into the water for the first initial time. Whilst I would like to say a myriad things, sound refreshingly profound and witty at the same time and take your breath away, I may just have to stand here at the side for a while and marvel at my courage at finally taking that plunge!
And look at me - I've actually survived!
